What do you require for your workshops?
Depending on the size and nature of the session, my needs vary. These may but need not include chart paper, an overhead or LCD projector or other. Generally I take care of the consumables like sticky notes and highlighters; I also can bring my own handouts for smaller sessions (60 and under). I always need water (for myself and the participants) and a CD player. For sessions longer than 2 hours, I also encourage you to provide healthy snacks of some kind.
What is your preferred room set-up?
Since the effectiveness of my sessions depends on their interactive nature, I do require a setting that allows for cooperative group work. People will be working together in groups of 3-5, and will be moving to different places throughout the session.
Do you travel outside the GTA?
My schedule permitting, I happily travel outside the GTA when mutually satisfactory travel and accommodation arrangements can be made.
How much do you charge?
In quoting my fees, I try to balance my travel expenses and time away from my family with your organization’s budget. As an example, I recently earned $1500 for a full-day session, but the same week I did a three-hour musical performance for a non-profit group and only made $50. (But in the latter case, my kids got to come, and the organization bought me lunch!) Since I am involved in many different endeavours, my honorariums need not always be paid in cash, which may also save your organization money. I have been given Chapters or Amazon gift certificates, cases of water, meal delivery services and other interesting methods of “payment”, as well as of course cash.
